More May

So, I know we had chicks in April, but this happened in May as well.

I was telling my friend Jamie how much fun we had raising chicks when she told me how they raise chickens but don't really enjoy the baby stage. She brought us over six tiny chicks and we happily cared for them for the first couple weeks. This time we had three different breeds: 2 Golden Sex Link, 2 Ameracauna, and a third gray one that I can't remember.  They were super adorable, especially with their feathered "eyeliner."

Chick-sitting.  It's a win for everyone because apparently they are nicer adults when handled often as babes.

They do poop a lot.  I wouldn't try this at home.

Chicks grow surprisingly fast.  Before long these guys were ready to fly.

Once we discovered them roosting, we knew that it was time for them to move on to their forever home.  But hey, it was great fun while it lasted.

Speaking of chicks, we went up to Hyde Park to visit our former foster babes, now full-fledged teenagers.  Here's Eli holding Goldie.

And here's Annika searching for snakes in Grandma Susie's backyard.  We all love coming up to visit!

Other loves: I loved watching Talia perform in the West High school play, Murder on the Orient Express.  She did a great job!  I just with I had a picture of her on stage.  Spoiler alert: she might be a murderer.

We also loved getting to see Annika's art at the Wasatch Arts Showcase.  Her class all created pottery leaves.  Annie made this tiny one out of the leftover clay.

She also conned me into buying her this "Hug Slug."  The very last thing this girl needs is another stuffie, especially one that her sister could make.  Still, it was fundraising for a great cause and too cute to resist.

Annika's art board, plus Delicate Arch.  All in all, I think it was a successful Arts Showcase.  The showcase is super important because the money raised there is used to fund our theater and dance programs.  Thanks to the Wilhoits for coming to support!

Speaking of the Wilhoits--big news!  They bought a house!  Meet Monty.  Monty's location at ninth an ninth is awesome--super walkable with multiple ice cream shops all within a couple blocks.  Plus, while they hope to spruce her up a tad on the outside, she is already gorgeous on the inside.

Plus, it comes with an outdoor cat.  Meet Fluffles.

While Callie and Adam were getting ready for the big move, I got a little extra time with Anders and Eila.  Yay!  First Annika and I took Anders and our neighbor Ezra to the Leonardo.  Flight training at its finest.

Even better is the art upstairs.  Here they are making stamps.

Annika's creation is a flying shark in WWII battle fatigues.  Glad she explained it to me.  Ezra's tennis racket was a bit easier to follow.

Next adventure: Thanksgiving Point.  This time Eila was able to join us.  The first thing we did was check out Baby Animal Days.  A bit underwhelming, it definitely needed more baby animals.  At least we met a beautiful colt.

Before long, we moved on to the Butterfly Biosphere.  Much cooler.  Plus, there are other fun bugs as well.

Personally, I found the flowers to be as stunning as the insects.

In the end, each of the kids got to hold a butterfly for a long while.

I think it likes you!

Ending with a kiss and a cone.

Hoping these guys are enjoying Utah--we sure love having them close!

Great post ... and I am also pleased the Wilhoits' are settling into Monte so well. Life is good ... especially with an ice cream cone.
