Easter Joy

A giant bunny and an abundance of plastic eggs--must be Easter!  The youngest of our bunch, Annika and Eli joined me for a neighborhood egg hunt at the 18th Avenue chapel.

My favorite part?  The free taco truck.  Personally, I think tacos at 10 in the morning is brilliant.

Easter morning!  Thanks to some help from Aunt Callie and Cousin Alesia, our bunny was extra generous.

Taking a few Easter Sunday photos.

Sadly, Annika got a bad migraine soon after.  Fluids and a nap are what the doctor ordered.

Meanwhile, the other munchkins dug into their Easter baskets.  You're never too old for chocolate!

A few hours later, Annika felt up to opening hers as well.

Alesia's in town?  Let the crafting begin!  This crew made the most adorable bunny placeholders.

We even had a Harry Potter bunny.

Only things cuter were the chicks.  Their tiny peeps made this an Easter to remember!

Drawn by their fuzziness, we had a fantastic crew join us for Easter.  Charles, Susie, Ben, Christy, and the Wilhoits!  Looks like Eila and Anders like the chicks too.

Brooklyn puts on a tough face, but she enjoyed them as well.

Of course, Talia and Eli got the full immersion experience.

A few more cousin shots.  I can never get Annika to look the right direction.

Full of the giggles as we prep for dinner.  It looks so festive with the pretty tulips.  Thanks, Callie!

Post-dinner card games and sleepies.

Working off some of those rolls with an Easter egg hunt.

Standing guard over the treasure.

Back inside, Alesia broke out the beautiful baskets she brought all the way from Long Island.  Two baskets, multiple egg hunts, and chicks--this Easter set a high bar that will likely never be matched!

But oh, the joy!

Thanks to all who made this celebration so very special.  While not something that can be photographed, our deepest gratitude is for Jesus Christ and his resurrection.  Quoting Elder Bednar and the biblical scholar N.T. Wright, "This is our greatest festival.  Take Christmas away, and in biblical terms you lose two chapters at the front of Matthew and Luke, nothing else.  Take Easter away, and you don't have a New Testament; you don't have a Christianity."

Beautiful smiles ... and baby chicks.
