Valentine's Love in Zion

Blessed as we are, Jason and I spent this past Valentine's Day in Zion National Park.  Jason had a work trip with Sam, so Annika and I tagged along.  Not exactly private romance, but positively delightful just the same.  We snagged two lovely rooms at the Springhill Suites in Springdale at bargain prices, dined at Oscars, hiked, and then hiked some more.  Dreamy.

Annika had the best time playing with her Windeck finger surfboard out the car window, especially as we drove up the switchbacks in Zion Canyon.

Hiking up to the Zion Canyon Overlook just on the far side of the tunnel.

Spending time with family makes me so happy!  Wish all of the kids and Jason could have been there, but Jason had an important townhall meeting and the big kids couldn't miss any more school.

So goofy!

So beautiful.  Annika and I have something in common: the wilderness restores our souls.

A picture of the sunrise as I was out for a run the next morning.

Hiking up to the Emerald Pools with Sam and Dad.

A glorious morning, even with the icy crispness.

The turkeys were showing off on the way back.

While Jason and Sam headed to some meetings with Switchpoint, Annika and I headed to Pioneer Park in St. George for a little more play time.  This road runner was there to greet us.

I asked her to stay close, but judging by the size of her silhouette, she didn't listen well.

It took a while, but I finally caught up to her.

Annika was intrigued by the airsoft pellets she found on the ground and began collecting them.  At first she was hoping they might be some kind of cool insect egg.

Thank you for including us on this great Valentine's Day get-away Jason.  We love you!

Zion National Park is spectacular any time of year. I understand why you like it so much there.
