Halloween 2025

Halloween 2025 was pretty special.  Trick or treating with the Wilhoits on Windsor Street near 9th and 9th felt like deja vu...only so much better!  The houses were just as adorable with just as much candy with the very same taco truck and DJ.  But walking the street, I had such clear memories of last year when Annika's chest hurt her so much.  We were constantly stopping for beat breaks.  She couldn't keep up with her cousins.  I don't even think she made it to the end of the street.  This year she ran the entire way without a thought about her heart.  After we got home, she ran into some friends from Girl Scouts and went trick-or-treating a second time.  When she eventually called for a ride home, they were down at the 7-11.  Her heart never could have handled that a year ago.

So a shout out to our foxy gal...congratulations!  So much has changed in a year.  (Including growing five inches, hence the high-water costume.)

So backing up a little bit, I worked a long shift on October 30th (6am-7pm).  Instead of going home after, Jason and the kids met me in West Valley where we grabbed a Family Box from the Habit Burger and Grill.  Yum!

Then we drove over to Daybreak to admire the Halloween homes on the island.  Jason had never been before.  So fun!

Famous scenes from American history followed by a troublesome encounter with a lawnmower.

Jason liked this classy one.

My favorite house is always Hogwarts on the Island.  Magical!

Pictures don't begin to do the place justice--it's definitely worth a visit in person!

The next morning I headed to Gardner Village with my Mom and Aunt Alison who is visiting from New York.

I'd never attended their WitchFest before.  What a fun (and free) surprise!  Apparently the witch by the water tower was having a bad day.

You haven't lived until you've seen a massive witch dive in a bikini.

Witchy Poo and a witchy zipline.

What a fun Halloween morning!  Thanks for sharing the experience, NomiAnn and Aunt Al.

That afternoon I went home to make chili for our family dinner.  Annika slammed the gate into Eli as he was carrying it, albeit unintentionally.  The result was a grizzly scene that seemed quite appropriate for the holiday.

Looks like the fox wants a bite of that dawg!

Meanwhile Eila was a fabulous Mira from KPop Demon Hunters.

Looking Golden!

As for Zion, well, we tried to turn him orange to be a matching fox for Annika.  But really, he was mostly just a mess.

Puppy wrestling.

You got him, Pickles!

Some family photos before we head out Trick or Treating.

Eila's not sad, she's just in character.

This dawg has the best condiments.

Of course, my parental condiments are pretty great as well.

Our family costume reveal: Le Petit Prince!  We have our Little Prince with the aviator, the rose, and the fox (x2)

By the end of the night the Little Prince's sheep had plenty of sweet company.

Time to trick or treat.

Papa Kay is torturing the skeleton.

Back home to the Wilhoits for chili, cinnamon rolls, a toasty fire pit, and some yummy mandarin soda.  Bottoms up!  Thanks to all to for a fantastic Halloween.
