You'd think that after vacationing in Canada and upstate New York, we would be ready to call it quits. But in our family, the road trip motto is "Go big or go home." We didn't go home.
Instead, we headed to Long Island to spend a little more time with the Wells Family. My dad likes to say that after three days, fish and house guests stink. By this point, I suppose we were in dire need of a shower. ;) Mother nature helped us out a little bit. Check out Talia after her morning run! Unlike the dogs, she forgot her raincoat.
But wait! In coming to Long Island, we picked up more framily! (My invented word for friends that are so dear they feel like family.) The Vedeckis's came all the way from Lithuania to spend time with us. To celebrate their arrival, we enjoyed more Papa Pancakes. Served with ice cream and berries, I don't think anyone minded the repeat brunch. From left to right we have Lina, Vytis, Egle, and Liepa. Kes must be looking for his morning coffee. :)
Since it was a rainy morning, we all went to see the new Barbie movie. Loved it! After the show, we headed over to my Aunt Alison's house to see her new place. I know downsizing was difficult, but the lovely cottage suits her so well.
Checking out Janet's amazing home as well. It was still so generous of her and Alesia to make room for our entire crew.
In the afternoon, we headed to Sunken Meadow State Park for some swim time. We got a nice view of Kes's feet and Vytis flying like a gull.
Papa Kay and NomiAnn look comfy in their beach chairs.
Marco... Polo...
Searching for treasure. Brooklyn actually found a twenty dollar bill floating in the water here
a decade ago.
Here's Vytis looking mischievous with a refillable water balloon in hand.
Talia has both a balloon and a boogie board to use as a shield.
I'm so glad Alesia was able to join us as well.
Digging our way to China. I suspect it's going to take a while.
Smile big, the sun's coming out!
Time for a game of pickup Ultimate. Kestutis, you're a natural!
Brooklyn, you'll have to jump higher to get the disc from Kes. :)
Papa Kay has the disc now. Brooklyn, are you tackling Liepa or guarding her?
Egle comes in for the catch.
Victors.
We look nearly as epic as the Beach Football scene in Top Gun Maverick.
Back at Northport, the Vedeckis family broke out their suitcase full of lovely and tasty gifts from Lithuania. Ranging from fun socks to tasty chocolates, all the gifts were loved, although none more than Lina's homemade mushroom cookies. The Wells family was quite relieved to learn that while they may be shaped like adorable fungi, they don't actually contain mushrooms.
Eli adores his jersey. Thank you!
Last but not least, a few games before bed, whether VR or Harry Potter.
Signing off with a rather comical picture of Janet, coupled with an extremely bored looking Greg. Poor form for thanking your hosts? Probably. Still, I wanted you to see how
delighted Annika looks to be snuggled on your lap. Thanks for welcoming us all.
