Happy thirteenth birthday, Eli! Three teens in the house--that's big!
We started off the day with colorful balloons and Popeye Pancakes. Annie wanted a turn in the rainbow birthday seat.
After school, the balloon arch migrated down to West High for Eli's party. Believe it or not, Eli really is somewhere in that back seat.
Eli had to play clarinet with the pep band for West's Homecoming game, so we decided to celebrate his special day by tailgating on the front lawn of the seminary building.
Heaven bless my sister for coming to help set up, bringing drinks, and even supplying more paper goods when we ran short.
It was also great having Uncle Ben join us for the festivities. He's in Salt Lake all year as the Mormon Studies Fellow for the University of Utah. Yay!
Before we knew it, a posse of seventh graders was swarming the front lawn, ready to celebrate.
Eli's classmates, just months out of elementary school, are totally adorable. Although I'm certain they'd rather be called cool.
Naturally Brooklyn's and Talia's friends showed up as well with the promise of free food on the table. We like them too.
The icing on the cake was when Eila, Anders, and Adam made it as well.
Speaking of cake, Sam's Club provided us with a great Baby Yoda design.
Only problem is that I bought the wrong candles. Oops! My subconscious mama brain must have really not wanted my baby boy to grow up. At least it was good for a laugh.
Before long, it was time to head into the Homecoming Game. Believe it or not, this may have been the first time Adam has ever attended a high school football game, including his own!
Eli played great!
Plus, spoiler alert, we recognized someone in the Homecoming Court.
Happy birthday, Eli!
Thirteen is a grand age. Old enough to enjoy more freedom, yet young enough to play legos.
As for nerdy Star Wars shirts, they can be worn at any age! Okay, I guess the Legos are timeless as well, but you won't get away with trick-or-treating forever.
Eli, your inquisitve mind, great attitude and willingness to help make every day fantastic. We love you!

Happy, Happy Birthday Eli (Cheeze Stik)! You are progressing so well and have become an impressive young man. Keep up the fine example of embracing truth, fun, faith, kindness and goodness. And, may the force be with you. Remember what Pres. Monson taught, "Your future is as bright as your faith."
