Our family likes to be spontaneous. While in Montana, we realized that we were closer to Glacier National Park than we'd ever been before. (Glacier is 2.5 hours from Thompson Falls.) We knew that Glacier was restricting the number of visitors due to Covid, but we got online 24 hours in advance and managed to snag tickets.
Our family is also kind of crazy. Glacier isn't really on the way home from Thompson Falls. Our nine hour trip suddenly multiplied to fourteen, not counting stops. Needless to say, it was waaaay late by the time we finally made it back to Salt Lake.
Still, Glacier was worth it.
The crystal blue water is mesmerizing.
With very little time to explore, we decided to drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Everybody says it's the best anyway. We rather agree.

With the possible exception of a few views from the roadways of Yosemite National Park, the views in Glacier National Park are the most inspiring in all of North America. Glacier is called the “crown of the continent” for a reason.
