Fantastic Fourteen

September 16, 2023 dawned beautifully bright.  It was a great day--a day to celebrate fourteen fantastic years with Eli Jameson.

I began the morning with a run along the Shoreline Trail.  Be it spring, summer or fall, the yellow flowers are always my favorite.

Later on, Jason and I headed to the Provo City Center Temple to participate in endowments. I haven't been inside since this was the Provo Tabernacle.  It's beautiful!  It feels like they really tried to preserve the feeling and character of the original building.

The very best part was meeting up with Brooklyn McCall for a little while. We sure love this kid!

When we got home, it was time to PARTY!  So I picked up a cake from Sam's Club and asked them if they could please add his name.  The result looks like Hagrid created it!  My apologies, Sir Eli.  I had good intentions.

To celebrate, we headed up Millcreek Canyon for hot dogs, s'mores, family and fun.

Eli is an expert at building campfires, having learned from the very best, Papa Kay.

Grandpa Charles and Anders are pretty capable pyros as well.  Don't want to leave anyone out!

It was so fun having grandparents in town to celebrate Eli.  Thanks for coming all the way from Nebraska, NomiAnn and Papa Kay!  Thanks for coming from Hyde Park, Charles!  (Grandma Susie was with her Mom.)

Adam, Callie, Anders, and Eila, thanks for coming from Sugarhouse!

Perfect fire for roasting, followed by the perfect gift.  I don't know what age is too old for Legos, but it's certainly not fourteen.

This set was the final segment of his Hogwarts Castle series.  Impressive!

Back to the party, last year I made a mistake and bought "12" candles for Eli's 13th birthday.  This year we decided to use them again, just for kicks and giggles.  The candles are subterfuge to keep Eli little forever.

Because really, who could ask for a more thoughtful, polite, responsible, inquisitive, not to mention WHIP SMART teen?  Eli, we are so very glad you are part of our family!

Making a wish.

The next part is a bit of a blur, so we'll just call it "making a memory."  Besides, the cake tasted about as good as it looked.

Happy Birthday, Cheezstick!  May your year be filled with unexpected sweetness and joy.
