Camping with the Calderons

Skipping back to early June, Camping with the Calderons!  Returning home from Mesa Verde and camping the very next day was kind of a lot, but we couldn't skip this fantastic tradition.  This amazing family has invited us up to their property every year since 2019.  While it's always fun, this year it was a PARTY!  With seven or eight families from work and elsewhere, the place was brimming with adventure.

Plus, puppies!  Who wouldn't want to spend time with these cuties?

Nothing better than campfire chats.

Except, perhaps, fire pies! The Calderons introduced us to this new tradition where you roast dough around a specially crafted dowel, then fill the baked shell with pie filling and top with whipped cream.  Seriously the best thing since s'mores!

I have to say, breakfast was pretty impressive as well!  Jason's a great grill master.

Our kids are growing!  Glad they still enjoy spending time with one another.

We even found a nest.  Any guesses as to the bird?  Perhaps wild turkeys?  The eggs were quite large.

Annika liked the caterpillar nests as well.

Nestled up by Huntsville, their land is beautiful.

Last but not least, a photo with the whole crowd!

Stacee, Andres, Hannah, and Sam--thank you for welcoming us all!  Here's hoping the tradition lives on.  :)
