Celebrating Labor Day in Heber

Labor Day 2020.  Since we've already had plenty of opportunities to camp this year, we opted for comfort this Labor Day, celebrating at Brianna's parents' cabin in Heber.  Such a lovely cabin in such a pretty little town!  Even better was the company: Justin, Brianna, Ruby, Charles, Susie, and our family.

Well, at least when the sky isn't too smokey.  The wildfires out West are still heavily affecting our air quality.

The lousy air didn't stop Justin and Jason from enjoying an epic bike together.

We took a trip out to the Uintas where the air was clear, even if the water level was quite low due to our dry summer.  Here we are hanging out at Trial Lake.

Picnic time.

Justin and his kayak power.

Eli's loving the ride.

Brianna and the little girls out "fishing."

Brooklyn and Talia go all twinster.

Beautiful day!

On Sunday it was back to the cabin for home church, games, and lots of really tasty food.  Here's Eli re-enacting the story of Samuel the Lamanite high on the city wall.

Sock arrows away!

On Labor Day we drove up to the top of Guardsman pass for a hike to Bloods Lake.  While our family has hiked Bloods Lake in the past (check out Memory Lane here and here,) this was our first time approaching it from the new parking lot and trailhead.  Aside from being super crowded on the holiday weekend, it was great.

Happy little hikers...

...and forever friends.

Our final adventure was floating the canal in Heber.  Who knew it would be such fun?  (For most of us at least.  It was pretty chilly for gallant Jason who ended up swapping his tube for some pool noodles to rescue a struggling father/daughter we passed.)

A fitting sunset for a great Labor Day,  So many thanks, especially to the Stoker family, for sharing their home so we could all enjoy the time together.
