Ribbon-Cutting Remodel

We are trendsetters!  In the past couple of months, Grandpa Charles, Papa Kay, and now the Wilhoits have all remodeled their bathrooms.  But hey, we remodeled ours first.  It just took a LOOOONG time.

I can't remember when it happened, but sometime in the fall of 2022 our bathtub cracked.  I was washing dishes in the kitchen while Annika bathed upstairs when I suddenly felt a drip on my forehead.  The tub was leaking all the way through the ceiling!

Just so we don't forget, here's what the "Before" looked like, right when we moved into the house.

Jason did a MARVELOUS job with the bathroom remodel.  It may have required showering in the basement for over a year, but was definitely worth it.  Here are some photos of the process!

Taking everything down to the studs allowed us to reorient the toilet and create more storage.  Fantastic!

The triangle cubby is my favorite.  Jason loves his Sonos speaker shelf.

Red Guard keeps the leaks out!  We only want to remodel once.

Thanks to Adam for the help!  Eli liked the power tools as well.

Snazzy looking tile!

Grandpa Charles was a lifesaver, coming down to Salt Lake multiple times to help us bring our project to completion.  Thank you!

The *beautiful* finish.  Jason, thank you!  This bathroom is extraordinary.  Showering has never been sweeter.

On October 29, 2023, we gathered for a "ribbon cutting" to celebrate our new bathroom.  After twelve months of using the tub in the basement laundry room, this was certainly a moment to remember!   We had a very full house for the celebration:  Grandma Susie, Grandpa Charles, NomiAnn, Papa Kay, Uncle Ben, Aunt Christy, Uncle Adam, Aunt Callie, Eila, Anders, Uncle Justin, Aunt Brianna, Ruby, Violet, Erin Rushforth, Hugh Spackman, and Brooklyn home from college.

With a full audience, this was the perfect time for a piano recital as well.  Grandma Susie is the best teacher!

Soup's on!  Plus, a preview of the amazing ribbon-cutting scissors that Talia made.

Preparing for the ceremony.  TP felt like a proper ribbon for the occasion.

I never imagined that we'd squeeze quite so many people in our hallway.

Ben called upon ChatGPT to compose a proper speech for the occasion.  Hilarious!

Snip snip: well-done, gentlemen!  We appreciate our beautiful bathroom so much.

Gracias!
