San Antonio Thanksgiving

No matter what the date, gratitude is always in season!  This year our family drove all the way to San Antonio, Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving with Uncle Lance and the Wheelers at Lance's new condo in the Pearl District.  I tell you, no one does style like Lance.  The place settings were simply stunning, especially in the beautiful common space.

It was also a treat to get to know Lance's partner Austin a bit better.  Austin had actually moved down from Chicago just the weekend before.  Both Lance and Austin were commiserating how lengthy the drive, whether from the Windy City or Salt Lake.

Annika rather enjoyed the 22 hour trip from her makeshift car nest filled with stuffies and an iPad we checked out from the library.  In truth, she didn't miss out on much scenery, at least in Western Texas.

Many thanks to Erin and Michael Rushforth for letting us crash their home while their family was in Hawaii.  We loved exploring all the running paths near their neighborhood. The morning after we arrived, Talia and Jason went for their own Turkey Trot to justify extra pie.  A wise choice, for sure.

Back to Lance's condo, Susie was the master chef, orchestrating our delicious meal from his kitchen.  She even brought all her jams from home!

As for Brooklyn and Talia, these sweet sisters were so excited to be reunited.  These beautiful girls shine so very brightly!

Now for all the siblings, but wait, we've added one!  Ruby, you blend right in.   Five makes for a much more balanced photo, plus four is a terrible omen in China.

The Avenues Wheelers take over Texas.

Looks like dinner's almost ready!

Charles carves the bird.

A few more photos of the table masterpieces before we tuck in.

Brianna looks pleased, but the jury's out for Violet.

Truly, it was an extraordinary meal.  Thanks to all of the chefs!  Nothing like family and food to help you remember all there is to be grateful for in life.

Post-feast games, including "Don't Eat Pete," not that anyone had room to eat him anyway.

A stroll along the Riverwalk helped us all digest before pie.  The Pearl District is delightful!

Rounding off this marvelous day with an unexpected trip to the Giving Machines.

Thanks to all for this memorable Thanksgiving Day!
