Jason's Lens: March Edition, Plus a Birthday!

Okay, I've gotta make this brief.  Yes, I feel this deep hankering to get caught up on the blog, but I also have TONS of other stuff going on so I need to move on!

Without further ado, the World Through Jason's Lens--March edition.

As expected, I found lots more pictures of youth activities...like snowshoeing.  In truth, the snow was super packed so the snowshoes probably weren't necessary, but the youth still had fun.  Plus, everyone was grateful that Greg was there to help strap them on.

Next up, St. Patty's Day heart attacks.  Because everyone needs some shamrock love in their lives.

Traveling around the stake in style.

As long as I'm on the subject of St. Patty's Day, here are a couple photos.  Our family didn't do much this year besides green pancakes, but Annika still had fun.

Back to Youth Activities, everyone went to see Frozen the Musical at Clayton.  I'm always blown away by the quality of these middle-school productions.

Another super fun activity was glow tag.  Where do they come up with these awesome ideas?

Talia, aka stick girl.

Annika is so lucky to be included so often.

Of course, Jason gets to come to the activities designed for Annika's age as well, such as this fun stake temple activity.

Who wouldn't love constructing a temple out of sugar cubes?

Jason even led the Girl Scout Brownies in a meeting about design at ASSIST.  Wish I had been there!  (Brownie Scouts conflicts with volunteering at Guadalupe.  Boo.  It's hard to feel pulled between two good choices.)

On the work front, I found these fun photos from ASSIST's monthly potluck.

I think this hat really suits Andres, don't you?

Nah, Jason wears it best.

In a crossover between work and the neighborhood, construction on the basement addition Jason designed for our neighbors down the street is slowly moving forward.

While unrelated, this wall blocking traffic on Virginia Street was highly amusing to watch.  There are so many remodels and additions happening on our block!

If I'm honest, the thought of a remodel stresses me out.  I'd much rather go hiking.  Here's our family exploring Ensign Peak.

If a hike doesn't make you feel better, this certainly will!  Here we are indulging in three different kinds of pie on Pi Day.  Susie, Charles, and our crew all gathered at Justin and Brianna's for the celebration.

Make that four.  I nearly forgot the pizza pie.  Papa Murphy's for the win.

After dinner we headed to the Hale Center Theater to see Treasure Island.  Their productions are always so well done!  Thanks so much for the tickets, Grandma Susie!

Pretending to play the player piano.  No actual touching allowed.

Other fun family moments: we got to hear Grandma Susie perform in the Cathedral of the Madeline along with the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra.  The choir sounds amazing anytime, but it was particularly delightful with the acoustics and organ of the Cathedral.

Farther from home, we drove up to Rupert, Idaho one Saturday to attend an Open House for Jason's cousin Brock who just got married.  We may have forgotten to take many pictures, but you can sort of see the bride in the background.

It was also great to visit with Great-Grandma Hansen as well.  We may be one of many grandchildren, but she always makes us feel loved and special.

Last but certainly not least, Jason's birthday!  We celebrated early with Grandma Susie and Grandpa Charles.  Susie brought Jason's very favorite--apple pie.

Make a wish!

On Jason's actual birthday we celebrated yet again, this time with Angel Food Cake, No Bakes, and a banana cream pie.  Wow!  Jason and I share sugar as a love language.

Justin, Brianna, Ruby, and Violet all came over to help us celebrate.

Violet says, "I've never seen 42 look so good before!"

Later in the evening our friends the Blackhams joined us for as we sampled eight different kinds of rootbeer.  I think the kids really like this batch, don't you?

Here's Brian, looking for all the world like the artist he is.

Speaking of artists, we missed our artistic daughters on Jason's birthday.  They left early that morning for a choir tour in Southern Utah.  Before taking off, Talia made Jason the cutest card and key chain.

Sure love you, Peanut Butter!  It may be hard to believe, but I like you even more than banana cream pie.
Happy birthday to the kindest, funniest, and most thoughtful man I know!  (Guapo too.)  Life always looks better when peering through your lens.
