Bear Lake Getaway with the Youth

In mid-July, the youth took a trip up to Bear Lake for the weekend.  Talia, Eli, and Jason all joined in the lake fun while Annika went to play with Grandma Susie and Grandpa Charles in Hyde Park.  Meanwhile Brooklyn was in Europe and I was working at the hospital.  Working weekends can be inconvenient, but I always feel better about it when I know that my family is having a good time.

Speaking of a good time, Aggie ice cream for the win!  Both Eli and Annie got to enjoy grandparent time and ice cream in Logan.  Eli went to Hyde Park early, then swapped places with Annika when the youth stopped for ice cream.  She went home with Grandma Susie while he continued up to Bear Lake.

I saw a billboard along I-80 advertising Bear Lake as the Caribbean of the Rockies.  You can see why.  Jason was suffering from sailboat envy.

The only downside is that the man who was going to bring his boat ended up throwing his back out and couldn't come.  Jason was glad that he'd brought our two paddleboards for the youth to tool around on.

Hazel and Eli constructed some impressive sand castles.

Cannonball!

Ben Keddington's flips were quite impressive.

Besides swimming, there were lots of games, whether croquet or driving golf balls at the range.

Alisi shows off her mad softball skills...paralleled only be her pizza consumption.  Just kidding.  Latu definitely wins there.

Sunset and sunrise over the valley.  Jason started the last day with a casual 8 mile run.

Meditation on the beach, led by Sonja.

So many thanks to the youth leaders, especially the Wrights, for making this fantastic weekend happen!

And, just since I don't want to create a separate post, here are some pictures from a different youth activity a week later at the Shepherds.  The swimming got cancelled because of lightning, but they got to enjoy the most beautiful rainbow.

And s'mores.  Because life is always better with a toasted mallow.
