Spirit Bowl a la Harry Potter

A great perk to working at West is getting to know all the quirks and traditions that my children prattle on about.  Last year Brooklyn was euphoric because the ELPers (7th and 8th graders) won Spirit Bowl for the first time ever.  It wasn't until experiencing Spirit Bowl in person that I really understood what a party it is.  Every year the fourth floor of the school gets completely transformed.  This year my delightfully nerdy children were thrilled when they chose a Harry Potter theme.  In truth, the panther's never looked better.

Diagon Alley.

Rogue wands at Olivander's.

Eli enlists in the D.A.

The photography students took some remarkable pictures of our WestWarts Staff

Devil's Snare, or perhaps Herbology.

...complete with a Whomping Willow.

Potions and shrunken heads at Borgin and Burkes.

And let's not forget Voldemort, Nagini, and Aragog.  Creepy!

All Annika wanted to see was a unicorn.  Lucky for us, we found one!

Needless to say, walking the halls was great fun during Spirit Week.  But who would actually win Spirit Bowl?  The ELPer werewolves hoped to be the Leader of the Pack.

Brooklyn, Lily, and Chantal, brimming with excitement.

Can the ELPers beat the Seniors?

Believe it or not, ELP squeaked out another victory.
Way to defend your title!  May you enjoy your victory until Spirit Bowl rolls around next year.
