Last of the Omaha Fun

Like all good things, our adventures in Omaha eventually came to an end.  Here are some photos of our final fun days together.  A comfy couch, a good book, a blankie, a nap, some grat kids, and a Zoe.  Life doesn't get better!

Even in her retirement years, Zoe still knows how to make us giggle.  What a pose!

Uncle Jason broke out his haircutting scissors and gave Anders a trim.

Ta da!  If nothing else, it took care of the mullet.

Talia finally gave Anders and Eila the adorable creatures she crocheted for them.  I love this teeny tiny dragon!

Eila's unicorn is precious as well, especially with all those curls.

Having already finished her own t-shirt quilt, Talia set to work sewing repurposing Aunt Callie's high school memorabalia.  My kids were astonished to learn that in high school, tiny Callie wore all of her t-shirts in a size L/XL.

On Sunday, we attended church with NomiAnn and Papa Kay, then headed over to the Winter Quarters Temple and Pioneer Cemetery.

The little girls enjoyed their Brooklyn-powered flight.

Plenty of family photos.

Multiple generations of oldest daughters.

Wilhoits and Wheelers, minus our Dads.

I'm glad my older girls have outgrown me, but still.

Back on the Andrus homestead, we enjoyed lots of bike riding.  Both Eila and Annie have really taken to their two-wheelers.

Pushing the jogger behind is a lot more work, as Callie can attest.

Later in the week, we headed to Platte River State Park to explore Crawdad Creek.

We didn't find any crawdads, much to Annie's chagrin, but the kids still had a great time.

Meanwhile, the bigger kids commandeered a paddleboat that was literally embossed Kay.

Afterward, we explored the newly-opened two-tiered splash pad.

So fun with its waterslides...

...and water soakers.

Because our children are water rats, we also took them over to play at the Joslyn Art Museum.

In my opinion, this is an absolutely brilliant introduction to fine art for little kids.  Instead of art museums being stuffy edifices, they are centers of fun and joy.

A glimps of Central High from across the sculpture garden.

While we were in the neighborhood, we drove by our old house in South O (2345 34th Street--best address ever) and stopped for some greasy eats at the local bar, Dinkers.  Hey, if it's good enough for Warren Buffet, it's good enough for us!

Anders feeds Jason a french fry.  Anders didn't like the fried mac-n-cheese as much as we thought he would, but that's probably better for his arteries.

Eli's satisfies smile says it all.

Last but not least, family photos!  Callie and I amused ourselves as Jason adjusted the lighting.

In retrospect, we probably should have kept the chairs facing the other way.  Ah well, enjoy our shenanigans anyway.  This one is entitled: the impossibility of posing youngest children.

A dozen photos later, and this was our best.  Not bad. Annie's still fired, and Zoe's obviously done.

Let the silly photos begin!  In case you can't find me, I'm being smothered by Talia's armpit.

Poor Adam has been shadowed by Callie's limelight, and Zoe is still uninterested.  But still, I love how these pictures bring out everyone's personality.

NomiAnn and Papa Kay, thank you ever so much for the delightful Omaha adventures.  We love you, we miss you, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
