Mirror Lake with Papa K

In mid-October, Papa Kay came out to Utah for a brief visit.  I'm pretty sure he wanted to say his goodbyes in case anything went awry with his second knee replacement surgery.  But great news!  He survived the knife, and at seven weeks out, he even achieved his goal of 120 degrees range of motion this morning.

During Papa Kay's visit, we took a drive out to Mirror Lake in the Uinta Mountains.  It was a bit chillier than we'd anticipated, but we had a good time anyway.  Well, mostly.  Papa Kay's body hadn't had time to adjust to the high altitude (more than 10,000 feet), so he felt a bit sick, but survived.

Bundled up in multiple layers as I try to make sandwiches.

Normally the ten second rule applies around our house, but this was an exception.

The cold didn't bother Eli at all.

Happy kids.

Best friends.

Perfect spot for a family photo.

Everybody say silly.

Doing our best to embarrass the munchkins.

More candids.  'Cuz it's my party blog, and I'll share if I want to, share if I want to.

Once the sun came out, it warmed up considerably and became a beautiful day.

Fun for all.

We topped off our adventure with a side trip to Park City for some local ice cream...

...and an impromptu bike ride.

Papa Kay even brought a special kit so that Annika could make her very own taco pillow.  She sleeps with "Taco-ey" every night.  In fact, she even brought Taco-ey with us to the movie theater when we went to see Abominable.

Papa Kay, thank you so much for making the long drive to spend time with us.  We love you!

Although I’m technically anonymous, I always enjoy visits with the Wheeler family. Theirs is an active household ... always something going on and nearly always undergirded with togetherness and love.
